I don’t think hes shit and he’s young so deserves time but I’ve not really seen anything yet which makes me sit up. Not great passer, not great tackler not particularly busy about the pitch. Just a solid enough player who so far does has not stood out in any a capacity.
Plays safe by passing backwards or sideways more often then not and today the two times he got on ball and drove forward, as 77 said, he shit his pants giving ball away and second time he got sent off. Think that’s reasonable summary.

i've liked what i've seen so far, he's gradually growing into the league and has certainly improved on his first few appearances. plays just like hayden BUT no where near as good, hopefully one day he will be.
today wasn't great for him but prior to his sending off (which i missed) he was having a decent game, that pass to smyth aside.

He beat a player and then stretched with a bit of a lunge to win the ball back. I’d say naive. Hopefully he remembers this day and reacts in positive way. |

Have been pretty vocal that so far Madsen and Varane have done very little to impress me but specifically for the red card a certain player with a hell of a lot more experience than Varane has been sent off for even more stupid red cards than this. So let’s not be too hard on him. He is a symptom of a bigger problem.

Only criticism is he does dwell on ball a bit assessing options and feel it will get pinched off him. But liked his performance especially first half faded second as his tank emptied.
