Smyth off the mark on his Wycombe debut PAUL Smyth celebrated his Wycombe Wanderers debut with a goal and Man-of-the-Match performance on Saturday. The R’s youngster – who’s on a season-long loan at Adams Park – maintained his record of scoring on his first appearance for each club for whom he’s featured by making the breakthrough in Wycombe’s opening day victory over Bolton Wanderers. Smyth fired the Chairboys in front just before the hour-mark, latching on to Anthony Stewart's long ball before rounding goalkeeper Remi Matthews to slot into an empty net. The Northern Irishman was withdrawn after 69 minutes by Fred Onyedinma, who went on to wrap up victory with Wycombe’s second goal in a 2-0 win. Smyth’s QPR team-mate Giles Phillips was also in Gareth Ainsworth’s matchday squad but watched from the bench. Meanwhile, elsewhere in League One R’s goalkeeper Seny Dieng was an unused substitute in Doncaster Rovers’ 1-1 draw at home to Gillingham. www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/loan-rangers-smyth-stars-on-wycombe-debut/

Hope we don't let Smyth slip through the net and out of the club. Will be a proper player given a decent run at Wycombe IMO.

So we weren't wrong in our high opinion of the lad then! Really hope we get to see him start in a Rangers shirt again.

I think he's played 6 or 7 times, maybe not all starts, and scored once.

Paul Smyth loan extended at Wycombe for Division One play-offs..could face either Pompey or Oxford in final. The final has been scheduled at Wembley Surely playing at Wembley must mean fans will be in attendance ?

Like Smyth. Why the fuck don't we ever play him One of life's greatest mysteries up with who shot JR. Re Masterson, if you're good enough you're old enough, as Alan says. Less error prone than Barbet too.

Getting rid of Masterson would be such a dumb move. He'll come good, odds on.

All well and good recalling Paul Smythe but will MW give him a run of games..Adomah and Thomas have barely had a look in so far.
Maybe because Smythe is out of contract soon so could be going to be sold.

maybe smyth just isn't good enough. weird as he broke onto the scene for us with some great performances and a few goals but i can think of loads of players like that.
this is his 3rd loan away from us and he's failed on every one. 23 now and has arguebly gone backwards since his debut. maybe time to move him on for the good of his career
