If he comes on with 20 to go he does inject a bit of pace and competitiveness and the opposition take a bit of time to work out he’s not a great threat so he’ll be useful but not a regular. We should be looking at better when we can.

I agree with Shania here. Seen him put some great crosses in over the course of the whole season but the majority of them had no one on the end of them. Strikers were shite. Admittedly though he had some shocking misses and should have scored more than he did. I'd keep him, in the hope that we get a couple of decent strikers in that can actually get on the end of any balls he puts in the box. Doesn't that make it a shit cross? I'd keep him as a back up but shouldn't be starting. I presume he is on low wages as well. Not necessarily, the way I see it if he gets the ball into a good area the forwards should be looking to get on the end of it but they haven't. That said, I agree that I'd have him come off the bench rather than start. Better as an impact sub.

every team needs different weapons in their arsenal and that's what smyth is for us. sam field's goal against leeds was a direct result from smyth winning the free kick and that's not the first time we've scored from smyth winning a set piece for us.
he's never gunna win the balon d'ors with us or anything but he does bring something to the team and those little something's all add up.
