In a bar, not at the stadium though. Jack Charlton used to play rebel songs on the bus to games for the Irish squad and half of them were English. Plus the Anglo Irish thing is about nationality not race. Important difference. Being anti- English isn’t racist? Or are you saying hating a country is “alright”? I’ve always thought racism was generalising your dislike for a group of people.

everyone and i mean everyone has said something racist or discriminated against others. If youve called your mates a poof a Joey ,spastic pikey etc, youve belitled dissability ,gays, gypseys for starters. Qpr use to sing some nasty songs about spurs and gas etc, fact. Sang town full of pikeys to luton, not exactly correct is it. The list and examples of all things in life could go on and on.And in truth none of its right but we all done it.

So they did walk off although pics on social media of England fans doing sieg heil gestures. Brain dead. That was definitely Bulgarians doing those gestures. Like I said. Got a pic off twitter from someone at the game.

Personally I don't think sectarian songs have a place in modern culture. A relic from the past that should have really been phased out in the 1980's! That being said, I'm a fucking hypocrite. I posted a link to The Billy Boys on my Celtic supporting mates Facebook wall after Celtic lost to Livingstone at the weekend. All in the name of banter though. It's actually a pretty appalling song when you listen to the words and understand the context! Disgusting song.

UEFA keep talking about the "Football Family". One of the most shallow, duplicitous, poisonous, self centred, travesty of a family if ever there was one.

Why I won't go to england games anymore is because I don't want 90 mins of anti Irish or IRA songs I want to watch football , when London was under attack that was a horrible time and planting a bomb is bang out of order ,but that's finished now it's time to move on .

I've been threatened in a pub in Ireland for having an English accent. I've had glass put in my food in a restaurant in Wales.,but my favourite was in Scotland. Went into a pub in Cowdenbeath and was greeted by a grizzled 5'0" Scottish lady who greeted me as I entered with the statement "You're fucking English!.... I bet you're fucking catholic as well."
Instant prejudice.

Rangers and Celtic fans have been goading each other with similarly horrible songs on either side for decades now. I'd actually had a few beers when I posted that on his wall and I get similar shit from him whenever Celtic beat Rangers. But I did feel like a bit of an idiot the next day for posting it to be fair.

Went into a pub in Cowdenbeath and was greeted by a grizzled 5'0" Scottish lady who greeted me as I entered with the statement "You're fucking English!.... I bet you're fucking catholic as well." Instant prejudice. Maybe it's just you? Having said that, the only time I ever experienced bias because of my accent was Liverpool. I went to university there in 1980, and on the platform wall in massive letters when I arrived at Lime Street Station it said COCKNEYS WILL DIE. In the first pub I went to, a raddled Kenny Dalglish clone turned me and spat: you're a focking cockerney. No, I explained to him patiently, I'm from West London. You're a focking cockerney, he replied. After that wonderful welcome, I discovered that we happy, innocent Londoners were hated more than anyone else in Liverpool in 1980, because down in the smoke we had all the money and up there, they had pretty much nothing. It was like being in a 3rd world country at that time. Street after street empty of even a single car. The first barred counters in off licences I'd ever seen. The checkout girl in Tesco asking me how much I'd got to pay for my shopping - I offered a fiver which she accepted with alacrity. In several pubs in my time there I was refused service, again because of my accent. Typically it would go like this: A pint of lager please. You what? A pint of lager please. You what? A pint of lager please. You what? Until I gave up. A taste of prejudice that was edifying, because of course I was a lucky so and so, coming from affluent easy pickings London and growing up in the 60s and 70s, I personally had never experienced prejudice before, whereas if you weren't white, you got it all the time. Didn't exactly endear me to Liverpool though!

I had some nonsense from some meatheads in Cardiff as a teenager. Managed to talk my way out of a kicking by convincing them I was born in Glasgow (which I was).

My Dad (God Bless) came over to England from Galway during the war. He had nothing but verbal abuse from the Welsh and while working up in Perth the Scots only interest was to fight. Always said the English were fair-minded. Basically I guess we are all capable of being a tad rascist

I’ve always thought racism was generalising your dislike for a group of people. Race is defined by ethnicity, not nationality. I'm amazed people are so preoccupied by this. You can not engineer social change. It evolves or it doesn't. Its better here than it used to be but getting better was a function of cultural evolution, not regulation, becuase there have been almost sanctions over here in my time, and when I started going it was the real thing, banana skins reigning down. Music has been the biggest force of racial unity imo. A fine or ban wont make any difference. They don't give a fuck, its like everybody hates us but we don't care. There loads of racism in European based football every weekend, no sanctions. Being consistent ban wise would mean chucking out half the clubs in europe of all competitions. It wont happen.

Unless you set a precedent and make an example of one country, i.e. the one with the worst record. bans wont make any difference. They don't give a fuck Not sure about that Hal, if you hit their equivalent FA's in the pocket hard enough, where it hurts, particularly with bans or playing behind closed doors. English clubs were banned from European competition for five years following Heysel. It seemed harsh but it was effective, as history shows we got our house in order.

QPR ‘disgusted and embarrassed’ by Fifa and Uefa response to Spain walkoutBy Paul MacInnes Wed 30 Oct 2019 17.57 GMTQueens Park Rangers have accused Fifa and Uefa of “brushing racism under the carpet” as they wait to hear whether action will be taken over an incident that prompted their under‑18 team to abandon a match in Spain. QPR walked off the pitch during a tour game against the Andalusian side AD Nervión in August. The club said it followed a number of racist incidents, which were reported to the referee only for no action to be taken. QPR said on Wednesday that Fifa took seven weeks to acknowledge their complaint and then told them it was a matter for Uefa. According to the club, Uefa had by then told them it fell in Fifa’s jurisdiction. “Fifa and Uefa seem to treat complaints about racism like a complaint about a broken seat in a stadium,” the QPR chief executive, Lee Hoos, said. “I am left confused, frustrated and incredibly angry that more than 10 weeks after we lodged our complaint of racism, we are still awaiting a decision. “Incredibly, despite the seriousness of this issue, it took seven weeks and the personal intervention of Greg Clarke – the chairman of the FA and vice-chairman of Fifa – to get a response from Fifa. “Let’s not forget, the level of racism was so severe it led to an under-18s game being abandoned. Our players deserve better than that. People deserve to be treated better than that. “There were a substantial number of people within the game who warned me at the time that this issue would be swept under the carpet and I am appalled to see this appears to be the case. I am disgusted, embarrassed and dismayed to call them our governing bodies when they are incapable of governing. “Football is a powerful medium for positive change and education. Its reputation needs to be safeguarded. Unfortunately, the people in Fifa and Uefa are just not up to that important task.” QPR’s intervention comes in the week that Uefa responded to persistent racial abuse by Bulgaria fans during England’s recent Euro 2020 qualifier in Sofia by forcing the hosts to play their next competitive fixture behind closed doors, a punishment deemed overly lenient by anti-racist campaigners. The AD Nervión chairman, Manolo Fernández, has acknowledged one of the team’s players said something unacceptable but claimed it was in response to being spat at, an allegation denied by QPR. “One of their players, much taller than our player, spat down into his face,” Fernández said. “In that moment our player said something to him. I don’t know what but from what they have said it would seem to be something inappropriate. It is not at all acceptable what he said. What the other boy did isn’t acceptable either.” Fifa and Uefa have been approached for comment. www.theguardian.com/football/2019/oct/30/qpr-accuse-fifa-uefa-racism-spain-walk-off
