Likely a Chelsea fan after their defeat? McGoldrick scored twice.

Vespa. Whilst strictly speaking, this should be in the other section, happy to leave it here for 24 hours as it’s an extremely important topic. Will then move it though, as we need to respect the opinions of those who don’t want to see it. It also gives those who haven’t requested access to the “off topic” section, the opportunity to do so.In response to your post, I have to say that I agree with every single word. What saddens me most about all of this, is that some people just assume that any opposition to it is some form of racism, which it so clearly isn’t. It must surely have been so obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense, that it would be one of the most divisive things, football in general, let alone the country as a whole, would ever experience. In fact, so angry was I about this, I emailed Lee Hoos on 9th December, informing him that if it happened again, I would no longer be buying a season ticket in future. I received a response. I will no longer be buying a season ticket. Had a change of heart for the moment, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, all contributions to this thread have stuck to the actual point and not sought to politicise it as a very small minority had done in the past. Also, perhaps there are some at the club who might read it and begin to understand the damage it is doing. Be a shame to hide it from them. Nice one. You might be banned though😁

Absolutely disgusting. She needs to be named and shamed. Bouncers years ago would of slapped her. Or sent her to the back door, a request would have been made for her to get her tits out and, on compliance, she would have been allowed in. I do know someone it happened to in the 70s and as she got them out regularly it was a no brainier.

Rashford getting abuse after last night

This aspect of human nature is nothing new. Give something a high profile and more people jump on the bandwaggon, ban something and more people do it/buy it. Social meedya has given thick, sad, inadequate people all they need to flourish. Then it gets distorted into something it wasn’t in the first place and things just get worse and out of hand. I think the line has now been crossed from raising awareness to out of control sensationalising. Things like chucking a statue in the river turn out to be counter productive.

Rashford getting abuse after last night awful No problem criticising people saying they are shit or played bad I’ve done it thousands of times myself but leave race or colour etc out of it totally irrelevant

When you see posts like that from Rashford, it really begs the question whether "raising awareness" actually makes things better or worse.
I honestly think there are elements of our society that want division. I don't know who they are or what their end goal is, but I do genuinely think we are, and have been for some time, subject to Agent Provocateurs who utilise social media to drive division and stir up trouble

Thought it best to separate these threads out into their own topics. I would draw a distinction between highlighting downright racism in sport (which this thread covers), and the politicisation of it, as well as a whole raft of other socio-economic, religious, geo-political etc issues in sport (the 'Politics in Sport' thread). Separate subjects really.

The wall etc is great, but talkshite been live from there for 2 days different shows, media having a wankfest like the lad had died. Media love a fad cause or drama. Till the next comes along and drops like a stone.

Anyone defacing a public mural should face the full force of the law. Including, dare I say, those attacking a statue..... Many of those complaining vociferously about the Rachford mural gleefully welcome the tearing down of statues of people they disapprove of or the disfigurement of others. Even Churchill. No where have I read that the graffiti wasn't racist. In fact, the entirety of the news media have told us it was. The vandals were clearly pissed off, pissed up Man City fans. This is what they wrote (if you can call it writing.....)
F**k Rashford F**k Sancho Sh1te in a bucket b@st@rd'
Apparently the shite in a bucket refers to some United song
Narratives matter. They have to be accurate and it this case it seems it's not. I'd taken in good faith the reportage that the graffiti was racist. Defacing the mural is a crime committed by criminals. But not, apparently, by racists. But that isn't what the MSM and activists are telling us. Why?

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57848761This is how to deal with the problem. Make arrests and make examples of those found guilty. No need for empty gestures or virtue signalling ad nauseam. This sends out a far stronger message as far as I'm concerned.

Actions matter. Words and gestures are irrelevant if not followed through with punishment. Let’s hope they find a load more of the nasty, vile little shits.

That should be a given in addition to anything else - although I very much doubt many of them go anyway. Johnson is such a prick.

Full of contradictions though, aren't they? The one that always perplexes me is people that are pro-immigration from war torn parts of the Middle East, but also militant when it comes to upholding LGBTQ rights. Perhaps they should have paid more attention in religious studies!

Not sure that's totally accurate mate. Certainly a crime but I don't think homosexuality is punishable by death in Qatar. As you say though, it will be interesting to see how next years World Cup goes down. The blood on the hands of those that constructed the stadiums the games will be played in far outweighs anything that we are currently up in arms about in my opinion.
