They had to sign him today, because the were worried as he's bit prone ,if they tried last day he'd miss the deadline, like most things he does.

I wonder what our plan is for goalkeepers next season?
Warburton has said he wants Joe Walsh to go out on loan. Kelly has 2 years left on his deal, but he's already made it clear he doesn't want to be 2nd choice. It will be important to have strong 2nd and 3rd choice keepers next year as Seny Dieng might be away for up to 6 weeks for the African Cup of Nations.

the likes of jordan archer, ryan allsop and frank fielding are all out of contract according to transfermarkt. would all be good and cheap options so we can cash in on kelly

he has been awful for the past 2 seasons in general, barring his few games last year. Actually he had some excellent games very recently during Dieng's injury and even won our MOTM poll. The spell out did him well it would appear and he got his confidence back. He's definitely a talented keeper and as long as he's managed well and keeps his confidence up this could definitely be our loss and Boro's gain!!

Needed a new project Awful keeper Good luck though Put wages towards austin
Think both Smythe and Shopido Going too freeing up loads of wages Actually like these two. I actually want these two to stay but I dont think they will play next season. We have so many midfielders
But we need cover for lb and rb

Would have liked to have kept him - doubt we'll be able to keep Dieng more than one more season.
Lumley has had a great attitude, worked hard and Warbs has seen improvement in him to try and persuade him to stay. I really like him and think he's improving all the time - and he's just approaching the age where keepers seem to hit their prime.
But can't blame him wanting a move and really hope he gets first team game time in the chilly north-east.
Don't think it's fair on Kelly to drag him back under protest after his Player-of-the-Year stint at Motherwell, and wouldn't want to have a grumpy player in the dressing room spreading discord.
So, a bit of a tricky problem for Warbs to solve over the summer.

Was a really good keeper in the beginning and end of his stint here, but after the kick in the face at Villa, he became a different player and was quite unimpressive (to say the least) until fairly recently. Took a load of stick and abuse, and probably a bit more than what was warranted at times, but can hold his head up after the last few appearances, IMO. Good luck Joe

Very decent piece of business for boro.
Nothing wrong with Lumley apart from being the fall guy in a misjudged experiment. And I aint talking about the boot to the face.

Play it out from the back? Yes, that probably didn´t help his confidence either.

Charlie Austin said Lumley is one of the best people in the squad with his feet. Make of that what you will

Anyone else afraid we'll get a pen against Boro and Poppadum Joe saves it? They just won on penalties against manure and he was nowhere near a save. It's meant to be. Ffs.

Had a couple of Lumley Fumbly moments last night against Spurs, but pulled of some good (and brave) saves and kept a clean sheet. Pleased for him, well done Joe
