Thought they said he was getting scan today? I think this has come from a Sean Gallacher tweet who seems quite close to the club. The scan will probably tell us what grade the ACL is. Hopefully the least serious.

Real shame for Amos and for the club. I suspected when he pulled up it wasn't going to be a good outcome.
I wonder if the club have any free agents in mind that can step in as cover in the midfield?

Is this the same injury Faurlin had? Didn't really recover ever.

Is this the same injury Faurlin had? Didn't really recover ever. Yes, I think he had three in his career. I think we as a club have been very unlucky with these. Rowlands, Langley, Carlisle, Ramage and Buzsaky for starters.

Is this the same injury Faurlin had? Didn't really recover ever. Yes but Faurlin had three and was further into his career when they happened. Hopefully Amos can come back from this with more advanced treatments available now. It would have been even worse had it been the same knee again, if you're going to try and find a positive. Also we don't yet know what the grade of tear is. It didn't look like a full rupture to me. He can fully recover from this but will inevitably lose some pace.

Game was slower, and maybe players not as agile not being hyper fit. Could the propensity of people to do consecutive knees could be down to their physicality? It finished you then, and surgery was invasive. Now they can get you going again.

Gutted for him. Some players never recover mentally from that type of injury but he’s been here before so fingers crossed he comes back the same player.

Shearer and Van Nistelrooy had the same injury and fully recovered, AND they were older. Not easy but it can be done, especially at his age. Another plus is the surgeries are much less invasive these days.

Modern boots and lush pitches maybe? Certainly seems to happen more now than when we played with studs on awful fields/bald/mud/sand. often thought this. Perhaps did happen but as sports science was not as high tech as now it was known as something else perhaps It was cartilage injuries that did for them in those days and you don't hear much about them now. Bone hard, rutted pitches and not being the elite athletes they are now did that. It's definitely different now.

I was reading something about the increase in ACL injuries yesterday. It seems to have increased in other sports too including basketball. Apparently it’s to do with players being more athletic and generally faster, meaning they stop/start and change direction at higher speeds putting more pressure on the joint. The article didn’t mention the fact that years ago footballers scythed each other down regularly, sort of suggesting that late/bad challenges are less of a problem than athletism.
