Prob a stupid question, but could Amos play as a striker or maybe just off the striker in a number 10 role? He doesn't do a massive amount but he does score goals...

Luke Amos single handedly keeping the dream alive.
Imagine this. MW dropped him for Jeff Hendrick week after week after week.
I hate manager merry go rounds but it’s abysmal management like that that’s scuppered our play off hopes.
Shocking decision. I blame his assistants too. They’re all complicit.

If he can get a full season under his belt next year he could hit double figures. If we get a striker nicking 15 as well we will be in good shape

Comes across very grounded and humble, doesn't he?
I'd love to know the justification as to why Amos gets so little time on the pitch. If there are genuine concerns around his injured knees then I'd 100% get it. If there isn't, it's criminal how little this lad has been utilised this season!

I’m huge fan of his only criticism I would say of him is he does sometimes hold the ball to long and get caught in possession

Imo we should be building our midfield around him and allowing him to go box to box. Excellent player imo.

Every time he plays we are further up the pitch and a far more offensive. Every time. He should play as much as possible

Totally agree but box to box midfielder is not the way MW plays. I’ve posted before that he doesn’t know where to play him. Presumably that’s why he doesn’t get games.

Not sure he’s not getting game time as he’s bern involved in 26 games same as Field and more then Dozzell only Stefan has more games in midfield
He’s had two big back to back injuries and I’m sure they’re just being super safe with him but time surely has to come when they say play your games.
Lot of love for him currently but plenty have given him a kicking, imo unjustly.
Actually loved his run for the offside goal on Saturday as he ran from deep and Dykes flicked it on. Not seen it back but was it actually offside as from my view felt like he timed run perfectly

He is much more "box to box" than Dominic Ball mate. Not like Dozzell either who really should be operating as more of a central midfield playmaker (although I don't think he's good enough at this level, from what I've seen). Good to have options in the middle of the park, but I do think we need more creativity in there. You have obvs seen a lot more than me of him then and happy to bow to your opinion. But I notice he hardly has a goal to his name - which ain’t good for a box to box midfielder. Amos doesn’t impose himself on a game enough for me yet but what he does do is score goals. We need more of that next season assuming we are again crying out for a clinical 20 goal a season striker. Indeed, Amos is absolutely a box-to-box MF and will only improve under Beale.

Definitely box to box, definitely needs to improve finishing, definitely a project for Beale but hope we keep him.

I would guess if Amos returns and stays fit he may prove a more reliable option of both him and Field alternating runs forward to press/runs into the box.

I’m not going to labour the point about Johansen but he’s needs dropping, although yesterday he was just ok.
As Hal has rightfully questioned why do we need to acomadate him, why do we need him playing out from the back ? Can’t Dickie or Salter pass the ball into MF.
We are more in need of someone that plays in the opposition half like Richards.

Amos could replace Johansson
MB very unhappy with the midfield
No leader but likes Field
Dozzell could be in the way out
Good the midfield is low energy crap
Archer from Aston Villa No 9 possible

Bringing in the kid from Villa has me wondering if Luke Amos, with two career threatening injuries behind him, is ever going to be fit enough again at this level.

It's a fair question Al, although you'd obviously hope it's not the case. Perhaps the Bunam* signing makes more sense now? * New Iroegbunam abbreviation?Wouldn’t surprise me, tragic for the guy if so. Beale says kid is a 6 or an 8 - exactly the roles Amos has had in the team.

Just seen an article saying Amos is out of contract in the summer of 2023, it appears a particularly poor decision by the club to allow his contract run down at this point imo.

I like Amos like we all do, but he's just too injury prone. No way I would give him contract extension.
