Sadly sideways and backwards. Was barely a sideways pass in his game today. Kept everything moving and played really well. good to hear, long may it continue.

Good to hear he played well. Didn't see it myself so have to wait at least one week before I have a possibility to change my mind.

one quote i Always remembered from my first coach in the game. If you have the ball the other side can’t score LTC's stats for conceding possession / misplaced passes I bet are very low. His long range passing is good too. If you watch him he is constantly looking to see what's around him, so has good awareness and can pick out a team mate under pressure and in tight spaces. His weakness is his capability to maintain that high level for 90 mins.

Works well probably in a side that’s on front foot. We need some physicality and drive forward.

He does a lot of the boring stuff that goes unnoticed but is still a vital cog in the wheel. Main thing is he very rarely gives the ball away and is good at link up play. Trouble is he does have a tendency to fade out of games, but that's why he plays for QPR and isn't in the Prem.

I think that’s fine if you’re playing for Man City. We don’t have the players in our squad to just keep possession and wait for openings. Need to try to do more with the ball when you have it. Try to influence game positively rather than playing safe option.

Looking at Preston game we bypassed midfield and kept playing it long to Bonne..the players like BOS ,Willock Chair and Albert need to be able to go past opponents, not just play keep ball for the sake of it.

Alan, James, I think he's certainly improved since his previous stint at the club. 28 now so should be in his prime. You may well prove me wrong in the end, will be interesting to see. I've been quite impressed so far but it's possible the qualities he brings deem him too much a luxury player. Again, time will tell over the course of the season.

think i'm going to vomit. would rather a scarecrow in midfield than this nonentity. here's to a season of 5 yard passes, sideways. any speedy counter attack will be killed when he gets on the ball. I still stand by every word of this comment. he is utter turd and makes gladwin look like a professional footballer.

In one respect he reminds me of dear old Butch Wilkins, master of the square ball.
Like Butch he can spot what's on early doors but he doesn't open up the space enough.
Jury still massively out.

Jury is still very much out. Moments of class but goes missing way too frequently.

It could be that it`s his lack of physicality , but I feel that he could be a bit more confident in his play. Iow he should take on more responsiblity in matches.

I respect that you rate him Stan but he's no defensive midfielder. Ball and Cameron compete for that, maybe Amos at times, but Carroll doesn't cover and can't tackle.

Carroll doesn't cover and can't tackle. I wouldn't even dispute that Al. He's a better passer than Ball and Cameron in terms of range (and probably one of the best in the squad) and his link up play is good. I conceded before that this possibly doesn't bring enough to the table in terms of overall contribution, but with Amos now out his only competition now is one of Ball or Cameron.

I don't know anything about Thomas, what is he when fit? It sounds like he's still a couple of weeks away. He's a CAM though, so different position really.
