Can't be banking on Amos having done ACL's in both knees in quick succession. Bettache and Thomas, the jury is very much still out. And the rest all play very different roles to Johansen. I certainly think it's the right decision to offer Carroll another year. Whether he fancies warming the bench here or trying to find first 11 football elsewhere remains to be seen.

And my worry is that Carroll in for Stefan will be seen as some sort of like for like. Chalk and cheese.......crumbly chalk and very tasty cheese.

Agreed but MW isn’t in favour of rack and stack. I desperately hope we go all out for SJ.

problem with TC is that he slows down transitions, first instinct is possession ball, sometimes you have to open up a bit more.
Front line is pretty slow anyway, at least Chaz'll get a breather while we go lateral.

Good back up option to Johansen and a good player to come on to see a game out, as we'll keep the ball. Happy with this one though I do want to see bettache get more time.

Agreed. Very useful player to have in the squad. Not in the same class as SJ but he does offer something different. Works well with a more attacking MF alongside him.

But we kept him as well, right? I don't quite understand the logic of some of these decisions, its like we're overloaded with cover in some areas and threadbare in others. In general we seem to be hanging on to one or two questionable ones, which might mean that there's less ambition in the boardroom than we'd hoped. We'll see.

Really not worth getting your knickers in a twist about. And where are we "threadbare"? Don't remember any game last season where we had to play anyone out of position.

I feel some people may have forgotten just how lucky we were with injuries this season (with the exception of Amos and Carroll early doors) - If we are going to challenge for the playoffs we will need to get cover and a lot of these players do have a bit of versatility on where they can play.

I am sure that anyone who is out of a club and isn't prem quality will end up training there, and getting paid peanuts. Didn't he leave us because we didn't pay enough? Might come around and bite him on the arse!

Not really sure Stan. How long do you give these players with "potential"? My Ipswich mate says for multiple seasons they've been saying that this is the year Dozzell will really start making an impact but it never happened. Looks like another Tom Carroll to me. Does bits and pieces really well but rarely strings together a 90 minute performance or truly influences a game. I'd of course love to be proven wrong though. Don't get me started on Tom Carroll again, Tarbs. I rated him! 🙂

There was a lot I liked about Carroll too mate. But he was a nearly man. All the skills but unable to make good use of them. Honestly think his career would have gone better if he was born Italian or Spanish. Wasn't cut out for central midfield in our leagues, that's for sure.

Honestly think his career would have gone better if he was born Italian or Spanish. Ok, now THAT we can agree on. Would have fitted in much better over there. I love that kind of player personally, and every good team needs one. We saw some good moments of that during his time with us and it was a pleasure to witness.

Deep lying playmaker has never really worked in our leagues in my opinion mate. Need to have a bit about you to play in the engine room. Creative players should play a little further up the pitch.

Except he wasn't a creative player. Deep lying playmaker as you say, who pulled the strings, knitted the team together, had a great passing range. The creative stuff was left to the AM. Yes they sometimes need a DM or CB as a minder.

Shit first time round, much improved player second time
Think would have been better playing beside a big nasty bastard but then again probably would not get away with that anymore
