He'd be fantastic if he played alongside a real ball winner. Unfortunately, we don't have a midfield general.

Why would he Mush? I don't get it. Last night we played with pace and movement in the first half, and we weren't playing endless give and gos across the back line which just gives opponents time to get set. Look how Willock performed and look at the difference it made to Chair. I've seen Carroll described as defensive and there is no way he can defend. He's not shit, no one who plays at this level is shit, but there is a reason he's here in his prime at 28 earning the relative peanuts we pay - he isn't that good.

carrol is a squad player at best and as others have said he isn't shit but he's not great either. can pull out a wicked cross or pass from time to time but for the most part he just adds another body to the pitch and rarely stands out.

The trouble is where is his competition? It's only Cameron and Ball. You can't always play those two, therefore Carroll will be more than a squad player. He also possesses qualities that those two lack.

Only other squad player that could potentially step up is Charlie Owens.

Defo way better then when he was here first time round. You can see how he’s matured and learnt the game, suppose you would call him experienced now
Would still like see bit more from him going forwards but he arguably out most consistent player this season. 7 out of 10 week in week out

Yep hands up, I was wrong about Tiny Tom. Definitely one of our best players. Seems to have a fitness issue though....

I rate him a lot more this time round than before. Doesn't waste a pass and keeps the tempo of the game going superbly.

Seems to have a fitness issue though.... same. last couple of games, he is finally showing some ability. as you say with his fitness though, he starts to blow out of his arse after 60 mins. really dissapointed with ball though, he tries hard and gives his all, but is not good enough for this league.

Good shout on Ball hits and brave one as he’s fans favourite. I was big fan last season as his cameo roles looked good but this season he’s been pretty poor. Can’t pick a pass and seems be yard off the pace
Think he’s a squad player off the bench so defo worth keeping around but if he’s getting too much game time you know we’re weak as a squad

He's worth his place because he's something we haven't got in anyone else. Shows for the ball and calms it down but he's not involved for 90 so could still be better. I agree with Hits about Ball too, love him one week and can see he's not got it the next.

Not effective enough for me. I think if you were being critical of him, it would be in adding a couple of goals to his game, a couple of nice rifled efforts from the edge of the box would be the cherry on top. I think he’s played well whenever I’ve seen him comfortable in possession, good range of passing, mobile. Good to see him starting to take the corners from the left, his deliveries g have been good so far, hopefully a couple of assists won’t be far down the line.

Could be a "hangover" from yesterday`s dissapointing result, but It`s still too many sideways and back passes with him . He also lacks the cutting edge.

There's no point in getting Chaz and ditching TC.
There are about three people in the squad who can spot space and he's one of them. The other two are Willock and BOS. We're still desperately short of dead ball providers, no one is coaching corners or free kicks or even throw ins. Our corners are about as threatening as a nice lie down, an embarrassment.

too many sideways and back passes I think that is to not understand his role and position Shania. He's a deep lying midfielder. His role is primarily to knit things together usually at a high tempo, to retain possession under pressure, in tight spaces, often with just one or two touch passes, then find a team-mate (all of which he's good at), to help move it through the thirds, to pick out a pass, long or short (which he's good at), to not make unforced errors (which he's good at), to always be looking up, around and have good awareness of what's around him and where the space is to move himself or the ball into (all of which he's good at). Next time you watch a game, keep an eye on him. Notice how he is constantly looking up and around him when in and out of possession. His awareness is excellent. Technically he's by far our best central midfielder. These are all his strengths. That isn't to say he doesn't have weaknesses, like all players.

The limited movement up front and the lack of a strong, creative and attacking midfielder alongside or infront of him are the real problems I guess.

Can't really criticise too much personally because if Tom Carroll could score more than the odd goal here or there (and tackle) he defintely would not be playing for QPR.
Solid player that does his job IMO. Also, the one player we have that has real vision.

carrol has been one of our best players this season, i was wrong about him too. he has much more to his game than pulling off the odd long pass. i'm looking forward to going back on my statement and saying he's shit again though i still really rate ball as he's a leader on the pitch and is good at covering and receiving passes. he's lost the ball a fair bit with wayward passes but i'd still prefer him in the team. hate his dribbling though as he looks like hes about to stack it everytime

He has a place in our team at Championship level but he's not quite the real deal. He's exactly the TYPE of player Man City love but you could never see him anywhere near their level. Glad I was wrong, he does give the defence a breather - the ball doesn't stick anywhere else.

Couple of wayward passes but overall very good again last night. Gotta say he's much better in this stint than he was in his first for us.
