On a side note it would be nice to see Wallace actually play!! Really? Would you feel the same way about dropping either Eze or Chair just to see what Bansal-McNulty could do in the first team? Dropping Manning at the moment would almost guarantee that he would decide to leave if given a chance; he is improving week on week at he moment and deserves his place in the first team.

Other than money, why would you go to Newcastle in January just to end up in the Championship the following season ?

Other than money, why would you go to Newcastle in January just to end up in the Championship the following season ? Money may be a big factor though. Manning's last contract renewal was 2 years ago when he had about 20 first team games under his belt. Probably on peanuts, so wouldn't surprise me if he'd want the opportunity to talk to sides showing an interest. At the same time, as I said above. I always take these rumours on obscure websites and the red tops with a pinch of salt. It's a very easy thing for an agent to chuck a bullshit story at a poor journalist in an attempt to push a players bargaining power up when it comes near time to renew a contract. Pawel's agent did it pretty successfully with that nonsense Chelsea rumour. And look what happened there. Pocketed more money than he was worth for 2 years, then inevitably ended up without a club cos we couldn't afford to renew him and nobody else would offer him another deal anything like what he's been earning!

Jake Frailing is worth keeping an eye out for, Deshane Dalling always impresses me when he plays, Nathan Carlyle looks good and scored against Charlton last week. Ody Alfa who just went out on loan, Joe Gubbins. We can only hope that Eze's young brother is as good too. *Edit. I just saw that Themis Kefalaos, who has just gone out on loan, came on as a sub for Billericay Town on Saturday and Ody Alfa scored their goal with a pacy individual effort.

West ham now chasing Ryan Manning apparantly
Why not just swap him for Hugill both worth around 5 million pounds each
No Brainer Really
If you like Hugill or not he scores goals fact

Thinking further on it; I would rather we blew any money we may have on getting Nahki Wells signed up, he is definitely the better front man of the two and not just goals.

Never happen mate. Hugill's deal with West Ham has a few seasons to run, and from what I've heard is over double that of our highest earner. Even our contribution to Hugill's wage makes him one of our most expensive players. Manning is probably on about 10% of what Hugill is earning.
With the above in mind, even if a straight swap was appealing to West Ham (which is also a big if), from a contractual point of view its totally impossible unless Hugill wants to take a drop in salary (which he wont) or West Ham want to subsidise his wages for the remainder of his contract.

Why would WHU want Manning when they have Cresswell? Maybe they want to play him in his actual position? 😂 To be fair, I could so see why a side would want him as a squad player. He can cover left back and all across the midfield from the bench!

Would rather keep Manning than swap for Hugill.
Far easier to get a PL striker on loan than find a decent attacking full back.

I'm hoping we are in a good position going into January with a genuine chance of top 6 and deciding to give it a go by waiting to sell in the Summer. Surely we have to show some ambition?

Depends on the contract situation though. Manning's contract expires in the summer, but I believe there is a 1 year option to extend. Doesn't sound set in stone to me. If there is any chance he could walk in the summer we'd be smarter to sell with sell on clause in January.

In a recent interview he said he was very happy with his playing time and learning his role in the side. I think, at the moment, he would be happy to sign an extended contract and get regular first team football over sitting on the bench waiting to come on as a utility sub.

Easy said when there isn't a better offer on the table somewhere else mate. I hope you are right though. Even for his sake, Manning is better served learning his trade here than warming the bench for a Prem side. As I've said a few times though. The cynic in me always questions the validity of some of these rumours. The press are lazy and it's in the best interest of the agent and the player to make it appear that there are interested parties when its close to time for a new deal.

My main concern is that we will not secure either Hugill or Wells as we piss about so much really with things.
We need to keep a good strike force in place its critical if we want to be a top six club in the future.

We'll pay him as well as anyone else who would be interested in him would be likely to. Yeah, it'll be a load less than he's earning right now, but he's facing a big drop wherever he goes. Hugill, I doubt West Ham will be able to offload him if what I've heard about his contract is true. Unless any sides near the top of the Championship or the bottom of the Premiership think he's worth the outlay in a push for goals 2nd half of the season. He's on a genuine Premiership contract. West Ham may end up stuck with him, recouping part of what they are paying by loaning him out until his deal expires.

WTF was all that about I wasn't even born mate! 😂 Was just gonna say. It was just a bit before your time! I just about remember it though. A real odd one, probably some kind of Gregory/Venables/Allison arrangement - all three of whom were partial to a bit of wheeler dealing. Reminded me of the more recent Samba deal involving that other wheeler dealer.
