i've warmed up to this signing tbh. at first i was against it given his lack of game time but he's a vastly experienced keeper who would have been training every day with top class players for the past few years. plus there's been a couple glowing reviews on his character which has won me over.
he's absolutely taken a big pay cut to come here and certainly had offers to go elsewhere to continue as a number 2 for continued good money. he clearly wants to play otherwise he wouldn't have wanted to come here.
very smart addition, his experience and character will be vital in the coming season and he could even end up being an upgrade on dieng.

the more i think about this the more i think its a very thoughtful bit of business for gareths desired style of play. from what i remember about asmir, he was great in 1v1s and given that gaz likes to play with a high defensive line we'll probably get caught out on a few occassions. his positioning was always solid too which is something dieng lacked last season imo.
not to mention asmir's level headed coolness will really help settle the back line and keep them focused.

Liked the way he sat on the bench second half and watched the game intently. Some of our younger players were scrolling through their phones ffs. It wasn’t pretty second half but at least watch to your teamates. Might actually learn something.
