Just heard we're having conversations with Asmir Begovic. Wouldn't mind cashing in on Dieng but not if Begovic is the replacement.
Not sure how reliable, just passing on what I've heard.

If it’s true we are looking at the likes of Bergovic the type of yearly salary he would want would be around a quarter of Dieng’s total transfer fee. If anyone thinks that’s good business I give up.
It’s not from paying big transfer fees the reason why we are hamstrung, it’s because of mismanaging our wage bill.
Dieng was probably amongst the lowest paid at the club, reportedly at £4k

Bergovic weekly salary is reputed at Everton £43k per week. If he or a similar experienced keeper came in on £10k per week that would equate to a yearly salary of over £500k which is over a quarter of Dieng’s transfer fee.

apparently set to sign begovic today . not at all enamoured by that one given his lack of game time over the past few years. at least he's experienced and has played at a very high level.

If I was Archer I’d be looking to go. Seems as if don’t rate him and prefer a oap who played bugger all. That do confidence power of good

I'll be honest, I'd give Archer a go as number 1 and have Begovic and Walsh as backup. We don't know how good or bad Archer is because of injury and being kept out of the squad by Dieng.

As Alan has already posted Millwall fans thought he was crap, they even compiled a video on YouTube highlighting his howlers.

Absolutely no way would a keeper of begovic pedigree come here to be back up for Jordan archer. Personally I’d be looking to move archer on based on what little I have seen of him, seems no manager rates him. If we do keep all three send Walsh out on a decent loan for the season with a view to him taking the job at rangers next year

Why would we shift Archer on?
He's happy being a number 2 and has done a decent job whenever called upon. Exactly what we need with a slightly older number 1 in Begovic and a young up and comer (with an injury problem or 2) in Walsh.
He's also just signed a 1 year deal.

For me the wisdom of this all depends on whether its in our wage structure. If low wages because he simply wants to play first team football at the end of his career then fair play to him and quite a shrewd move by us, as our two young keepers can hopefully develop out on loan this season and potentially play the following. But if we spunk most of the Seny transfer on a player with no re-sale value then that would be nuts.

I actually can't work out how we are front runners to be honest. Luton wanted him, you'd have thought he'd favour the Prem. Can only assume we've guaranteed him the number 1 spot.

Appreciate its a free transfer mate but wages just as important. Even 10k a week is 500k a year. Assume at Everton he was on a hell of a lot more than 10k and if Luton (flush with Prem money) are in for him I would have thought his wage demands will be considerable.

Maybe he just wants a regular game mate. I'd imagine he earned a decent whack as cover with Chelsea for multiple seasons and fancies seeing his career out sonewhere he knows he'll play.

Have to say, I'd be pretty pleased with Begovic, better than I thought we'd be able to sign. Not bothered about his age - probably got a few good years in him yet if he keeps himself fit.
Imagine he'd be a great influence/organiser of our sometimes ramshackle defence - and of course the other keepers in the squad.
With a footie school based in Chiswick, I think we're pretty well placed... fingers crossed we get it over the line.

Yea we aint splashing big wages any more so I personally don't get as nervous on that as some do.

So, no news on Begovic, a signing the usually reliable WLS said was to be completed yesterday.
Stumbling block?
