i like him a lot. adds some read steel and composure infront of the defence plus he's tidy with the ball too. don't think its a coincidence that our defensive record has improved as much as it has since he came in. quietly proficent imo.
that being said, if we can bring him in for cheap then i'd be all for it but i'd rather we be looking for the next isaac hayden tbh.

Sort of player you build a team around. Surely a place for him in Prem when you see some of the players in the lower half.

I think he’s the type of player who is too good for championship but not quite good enough for the prem hence why teams in prem loan him out. |

He’s not going get a sniff for them so surely better get him or part of his wages off books for FFP reasons. |

He’s not going get a sniff for them so surely better get him or part of his wages off books for FFP reasons. probably will be the case tbh, i don't think he'll stay there next season as they will chuck a few million at him to sod off. only question is that he's a relatively high profile player who's been brilliant for us and surely other clubs will be keeping tabs on him. at his age he may understandably want to chase the money. you could compare him a bit to nahki wells in that regard as from what i heard he was given a too good to turn down offer from bristol even though he wanted to stay here. |

Fella is outstanding. Sometimes you don't notice him when the team is rolling, which tells you how good he is. Him coming off against Brum nearly cost us the game. Makes the game look easy.

On one hand I agree as he’s not only a good player in this league but seems exactly the right personality. But my concern is his wage demands and his injury record. Hes also someone we won’t be able to get money on later. Maybe save for younger players? |

Maybe save for younger players? it's certainly a big dilemma. his newcastle career is as good as done and they will likely pay up a significant portion of his contract in the summer to get him off the books. all depends how much he wants to come here, he could probably earn more elsewhere. |

An articulate and well penned message. I think we need a player like him - don’t care if there is no sell-on, the investment in him is future success which ultimately brings in the money. Need some old heads as well as young guns and he’s a stroller, lets the ball do the work so, injury aside, he’s got a few years in him.
