Barbet has been much better in a three with Dickie. Am absolutely loving the set up we have at the back now as everyone looks comfortable with it.
Also, how good is De Wijs....absolute monster!

Agree Mush. Those 3 compliment each other very well. 2 ball players and a destroyer!

What’s with Rob Dickie being caught out of position more lately than he ever was before? With Uncle at RWB we can be wide open right side. Great to stride forward into space with the ball occasionally but he’s not quick and he gets closed down leaving a big hole behind. Would like to see him just concentrate on what he’s good at, defending - especially in the last quarter of a tight game. Scoring worldies is great, but a bonus that doesn’t happen often.

Started the season on fire (and not just the goals), but he's lost some form last month or so IMO.

"West Ham boss David Moyes is interested in signing English centre-back Lloyd Kelly, 23, from Championship promotion-chasers Bournemouth to help deal with his side's defensive problems." BBC
I think we overrate Dickie.

On the subject of Dickie, am I the only one who doesn't necessarily see him starting next season if we're 4 at the back?

Dickie, "It's not nice to have to watch the team..." Thought we did better as a technical, passing team, rather than a changed, more physical approach. Beale is, "clearly defining roles". "Feels like a really good place to be." Hopefully it will be more like the first half of last season, rather than the second - perhaps with some new ideas thrown in. Looking forward to being pleasantly surprised after our dramatic tail-off in the Spring.

On the subject of Dickie, am I the only one who doesn't necessarily see him starting next season if we're 4 at the back? I’m not so sure that Dickie will be left out if a back 4 is selected. I watched MB video again on his “principles” wherein he speaks about the holding player dropping in to make a back 3, maybe it’s a coincidence but Masterson played the holding role for 1 half against Uxbridge.(I realise Field was injured) Big fan of Dunne but Dickie has more about him as a footballing C/B

Worth noting that Dickie started his career as a Central Midfielder.

Dickie under pressure for me. If he plays like he did when he arrived then he starts but he was gash last season but based on that he’s fighting for starting place if two CB

Gets turned too easily and lacks pace to work well in a 2 for me. Particularly given Beale apparently likes the full backs to bomb forward. 1 defender needs to be a paceman and the other needs to be at least able to hold his own in a foot race for that system to work.

I mean sprinters (who are genetically better equipped for moving fast than Dickie) work on it virtually full time for what are basically incremental improvements, over a long period of time. I don't see what you could with Dickie that would make much difference.

Given our attacking options being poor.
I think I read that Dickie originally played up front.
Might be radical but I would bring Dunne in at the back and put Dickue up front instead of,you know who.
