Also, what's the story behind the gates being opened?

Rangers in their standing , lo beginning game . Rangers in lower tier seats to right, come on pitch end to meet farmers , gate left unattended few come on to join from allocated end

Just chanced upon some recollections of Black Andy Gray's 2 goals against Man Utd in 89.
Other recollection from that evening is definitely how despite how awful the attendance was - 10,017 - it was VERY lively outside. White City came out in force that night and Utd had to run a barrage of bottles on the way back to the station if I remember correctly.
